2nd Edition Leather Scriptures
Exclusive Order Window

We are only able to offer these books via a limited order event. This will be a single production run. If you think you will ever want to make a purchase, now is the time to do so, as there are no future leather-bound editions planned. To proceed, we kindly request your attention to the following details to ensure a smooth process and timely delivery.

To align with our printer, JONGBLOED’s, paper procurement schedule, we must submit final order quantities for each book version by July 27, 2025.

The order window will close at midnight MDT on July 26, 2025, after which no further orders can be accepted. This deadline is critical to securing the necessary paper and meeting project demands.

Upon the close of the order window, a 50% deposit of the project cost will be required from us to initiate paper procurement and production. Adhering to this schedule will enable JONGBLOED to complete production by January 2026, with shipping arranged to our U.S. warehouse distribution point thereafter.

We currently anticipate customer shipments to begin on or around February 1, 2026. Updates will be provided throughout the process to keep you informed of progress.

To secure your order, please submit payment as soon as possible via cashier’s check (preferred), personal check mailed to our designated address, or credit card through our online store.

For any questions or clarifications, please contact us promptly. We appreciate your interest and commitment to this unique project and look forward to fulfilling your order.

Books

This 2nd edition includes a three-volume set and standalone Covenant of Christ books. Please note that the dimensions of the books have been updated, as detailed below.

Three-Volume Scripture Set (6x9 format)

  • Volume 1: Old Testament
  • Volume 2: New Testament, Book of Mormon, and Glossary of Gospel Terms
  • Volume 3: Teachings and Commandments, Covenant of Christ

Covenant of Christ Editions
  • Covenant of Christ (6x9 format)
  • Covenant of Christ (A5 format)

This printing includes some helpful modifications to the reference and navigation tools in the scriptures so that anyone from various faith backgrounds can readily use the Restoration Scriptures and find familiar scriptures they know, via chapter and verse or section and verse notation in addition to the chapter and paragraph reference system found in the first edition.

All of the original Restoration Edition format is retained, and the KJV chapters and verses have been reinserted inline into the Old and New Testaments in smaller red ink superscripts. And the LDS chapter/section and verse notation have been added inline to the Book of Mormon and Teachings and Commandments sections wherever applicable, likewise in red ink superscripts. (Explained further below.)

This will make it possible to locate a passage using either traditional KJV/LDS chapter and versification, or through the Restoration Edition formatting that keeps the text in the more understandable and useful paragraph divisions that improve comprehension.

This edition will be meticulously handcrafted by JONGBLOED publishers, a premier book bindery in the Netherlands renowned for its expertise in scripture production. The following details outline the quality and craftsmanship of this edition:

Cover and Binding: Each volume will feature high-quality natural grain goatskin leather covers with a 9 mm overlap, leather edges turned in 5 mm, and a 12 mm corner radius. The covers will include a Shakira cow split leather liner, six genuine raised hubs on the spine, and cover stitching in a color matching the leather.

Paper and Printing: The high opacity, wood-free and acid-free paper, milled in France, will feature gold art-gilded page edges, with blue sprayed edges for blue leather volumes and red sprayed edges for all others. Pages will have rounded corners, be fanned for easy separation of gilded edges, and be printed in the correct grain direction using black ink with a red spot color for KJV/LDS headers and chapter/verse numbers.

Ribbon Markers: Premium 1 cm ribbon markers in complementary colors will be evenly spaced and positioned as deep and close to the spine as possible and will not twist when entering the book. They will be cleanly trimmed to ensure a polished appearance with no loose threads.

Additional Features: The inside liner and endleaf colors will complement the cover, and the endpaper will be woodfree offset, shade-matched to the thin print pages for a cohesive look. The outer spine will feature matt gold foil embossing displaying the volume name, and the book will be constructed with smyth-sewn signatures for durability, longevity and flexibility that allows the book to lie flat when open.

This second edition combines high-quality craftsmanship with enhanced navigational tools, delivering an accessible, polished and approachable scripture resource for readers from diverse faith backgrounds.

Book Size and Format Enhancements:

The dimensions of the books in this second edition have been carefully considered to optimize readability, content capacity, and user experience. The adoption of a larger 6 x 9 inch (156 x 232 mm) page size allows for a larger font size and increased text per page compared to the first edition. This results in an efficient use of space, enabling the inclusion of the same content in fewer pages or the addition of new content with only a modest increase in page count.

For instance, Volume 1 is approximately 100 pages shorter than its predecessor, while Volume 2—now encompassing three books, the New Testament, Book of Mormon, and Glossary of Gospel Terms—has the same page count as the original Volume 1. The larger font size enhances readability, making this edition more accessible and is a helpful and welcome improvement for readers.

To accommodate those who prefer continuity with the original first edition, leather-bound scriptures, a standalone Covenant of Christ is available in the A5 size (148 x 210 mm, or approximately 5.8 x 8.26 inches). This option is ideal for readers who wish to maintain consistency with the first edition’s dimensions, ensuring the book aligns seamlessly with existing books or fits comfortably in a book bag.

With the exception of the A5 standalone Covenant of Christ, all books in this production run, including the three-volume scripture set, will be produced in the standard 6 x 9 inch format.

Contents

The enhanced 6x9 format offers a larger, more readable font size, approximately 10% larger (1 point) than the original A5 text, while preserving the portability and functionality of the book blocks.

The original Restoration Edition (RE) chapter and paragraph structure remains intact, with chapter notations prominently displayed in black and RE paragraph numbers positioned in the outer page margins. To facilitate cross-referencing, the King James Version (KJV) chapter and verse numbers for the Old and New Testaments are reintroduced using red inline numbering, with red left-page headers indicating the first KJV chapter and verse on each page. Similarly, the Book of Mormon incorporates LDS chapter and verse numbering in red inline superscript numbers, with corresponding red left-page headers noting the LDS chapter and verse. For the Teachings and Commandments, LDS section numbers are presented in red brackets alongside the RE section headers and numbers and LDS verse numbers, where applicable, are added inline as red superscript numbers. The same red numbering and header layout is present in the Covenant of Christ.

This edition’s integration of multiple chapter, section, and verse numbering systems enhances accessibility for a diverse audience, enabling seamless use of the RE scriptures. By aligning with numbering systems commonly referenced in published books, blog posts, and other resources, this edition simplifies scripture lookup and cross-referencing. Users will benefit from improved tracking and comparison between the RE and LDS volumes, making this edition a valuable tool for study and research.

Note the content changes in the volumes, as follows:

Volume 1: Old Testament
Volume 1 continues to encompass the complete Old Testament, consistent with the original edition. Minor updates have been made, including corrections to punctuation and spelling, alongside the integration of King James Version (KJV) chapter and verse numbering for enhanced cross-referencing, as previously described.

Volume 2: New Testament, Book of Mormon and Glossary of Gospel Terms
Volume 2 retains its original content, comprising the New Testament and the Book of Mormon, with the addition of the latest edition of the Glossary of Gospel Terms. This updated glossary incorporates selected terms from the Covenant of Christ mini-glossary, enriching its utility for readers. Minor revisions for punctuation and spelling have been applied, along with the previously noted KJV and LDS chapter and verse numbering systems to facilitate scripture navigation and comparison.

Volume 3: Teachings and Commandments and Covenant of Christ
Volume 3 includes the Teachings and Commandments and the Covenant of Christ. The Teachings and Commandments have been updated to incorporate recent revelations, including the new name received and accepted by the community in April 2025. The Covenant of Christ in this edition excludes the mini-glossary found in print-on-demand versions. Minor edits for punctuation and spelling have been made, and LDS section numbers and versification have been added to the Teachings and Commandments where applicable, as previously outlined, to support ease of use and reference. Covenant of Christ maintains the same red numbering and header layout as the previously mentioned books.

These updates ensure that each volume remains a reliable and accessible resource, with enhancements designed to improve clarity, consistency, and usability for a broad audience.

Colors

There are now 2 colors available as the new “stock/core” colors: Black and British Tan.

For the stand-alone Covenant of Christ books, two additional colors are offered for those who wish to match or complement their existing first edition leather-bound scriptures. These additional colors will be available for the Covenant of Christ in both sizes (6x9 and A5).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) – Second Edition of the Scriptures

  • 1. What payment methods are available?

We accept cashier’s checks, personal checks, debit/credit cards and PayPal for payment. Please mail cashier’s checks or personal checks to the address provided during checkout. To ensure prompt order processing, we kindly request that you submit your payment as soon as possible.

  • 2. What books are included in the second edition?

The second edition includes a three-volume leather-bound scripture set also available for individual purchase and standalone Covenant of Christ books, all in 6 x 9 inch format, with an A5 option for the standalone Covenant of Christ only:

    • Volume 1 (6 x 9): Old Testament
    • Volume 2 (6 x 9): New Testament, Book of Mormon, and Glossary of Gospel Terms
    • Volume 3 (6 x 9): Teachings and Commandments, Covenant of Christ
    • Standalone Books: Covenant of Christ (6 x 9 or A5)

Print-on-demand books will be offered in due time and the formats will offer individual books (e.g., Old Testament (2 volumes due to size limitations), New Testament, Book of Mormon, etc.), resulting in separate book titles. The content will remain consistent across both formats, but the leather-bound set consolidates the content into three volumes for a cohesive, premium presentation. The leather-bound edition also includes enhancements like Smyth-sewn binding, goatskin leather covers, and gilded edges, which are not available in print-on-demand versions.

  • 3. Tell me about the text layout. Will it be consistent across all volumes and binding types?

The text layout, including font size and placement, is standardized across the 6 x 9 inch leather-bound volumes and the 6 x 9 inch standalone Covenant of Christ to ensure a uniform reading experience. The A5 standalone Covenant of Christ uses a slightly smaller font size to accommodate the smaller page dimensions, but the content and navigational tools (e.g., chapter/verse numbering) remain identical. Minor adjustments may occur due to binding differences, but these do not affect the text’s accessibility or readability.

  • 4. Can I change my order for leather-bound products?

Order modifications may be possible before the final order details are submitted to Jongbloed. Please contact us as soon as possible with any requested changes. After this date, changes may not be feasible due to production commitments.

  • 5. Will I receive the exact color and type I ordered?

Yes, your order will match the selected color and leather type:

    • Three-Volume Set: Available in Black or British Tan goatskin leather.
    • Standalone Covenant of Christ (6 x 9 or A5): Offered in Black, British Tan, or two additional colors to roughly match first edition scriptures. All covers use high-quality natural grain goatskin leather with a Shakira cow split leather liner, as specified. While minor natural variations in leather grain may occur, we ensure consistency with your chosen color and material.

  • 6. Will the product be flawless?

Jongbloed, a premier European bindery, produces these scriptures with exceptional craftsmanship, using premium materials like Smyth-sewn bindings, art-gilded edges, and goatskin leather. All books are hand bound and finished in this edge-line offering. While we strive for perfection, minor imperfections inherent to handcrafted products (e.g., slight leather grain variations) may occur. Each book undergoes rigorous quality checks to meet very high standards. Each book is hand inspected numerous times at various stages in the production process and before shipment. While it is anticipated we will not have quality issues, if you receive a product with any significant defect, please contact us to address the issue and we will provide resolution to the best of all abilities.

  • 7. Do the pictures on the store reflect exactly what will be delivered?

The images on our store are from actual books and do accurately represent the second edition’s appearance, including cover colors, leather texture, and binding style, etc. However, slight variations in leather grain or color tone may occur due to the natural properties of the materials. The product specifications (e.g., 6 x 9 size, Smyth-sewn binding, ribbon markers) will match the descriptions provided.

  • 8. Do we ship internationally?

Yes, we offer international shipping. After production is completed, books will be shipped from a USA distribution point to customers worldwide. We aim to begin shipping in February 2026 and will provide updates as the process unfolds.

  • 9. How long after I place an order will my scriptures arrive?

Attention to the following details will help ensure a smooth process and timely delivery.

To align with our printer, Jongbloed’s, paper procurement schedule, we must submit final order quantities for each book edition by July 27, 2025.

The pre-sale will close at midnight MDT on July 26, 2025, after which no further orders can be accepted. This deadline is critical to securing the necessary paper and meeting project demands.

Shipping from the USA distribution point to customers is currently planned to begin in February 2026. Delivery times will depend on your location and shipping method, and we will provide tracking information and updates as available.

  • 10. Who receives profits from these books?

The Restoration Scriptures project is a non-profit endeavor focused on making high-quality scriptures accessible to all who purchase them at “cost”. Any funds generated are used to cover development, production and shipping costs. Surplus funds, if any, support future scripture projects or related initiatives. No individuals or entities receive personal profits from this project. They are sold as close as possible “at cost” and without markup.

  • 11. What if I am unable to afford a set of scriptures?

The leather-bound second edition of the Restoration Scriptures is a premium, handcrafted product produced by Jongbloed, reflecting exceptional quality and craftsmanship. While offered at cost, we recognize the investment may be significant for many. For comparison, similar high-quality Bibles, such as Schuyler ($220+) or Allan ($320+), also produced by Jongbloed, carry a much higher price point for a single book.

If the cost of the leather-bound set is prohibitive, we recommend the more affordable print-on-demand versions, to be released Fall 2025, which contain identical content. Additionally, the standalone Covenant of Christ (available in 6 x 9 or A5) is offered to complement existing leather-bound scriptures, allowing you to complete your scripture set without purchasing a full, new, set.

If you need assistance to participate in this offering, please contact your fellowship or reach out to others who may be able to help you secure a book.

  • 12. Is this project affiliated with any church or religion?

The Restoration Scriptures project is an independent effort to produce accessible, high-quality scriptures for readers from diverse faith backgrounds. We are not formally affiliated with any specific church or religious organization. The scriptures are designed to serve a broad audience, with navigational tools (e.g., KJV and LDS numbering) to support various traditions.

  • 13. Will there be further edits or changes to the scripture content?

The second edition includes minor updates, such as punctuation and spelling corrections, the addition of KJV and LDS chapter/verse numbering, and the inclusion of recent revelations in the Teachings and Commandments (up to April 2025). While we aim to maintain content stability, future editions may incorporate minor refinements or additional revelations as they are received and accepted by the community. Any such changes will be transparently communicated to readers.

  • 14. Why is the book size different from the first edition, and what are the benefits?

The second edition adopts a 6 x 9 inch format for the three-volume set and standalone Covenant of Christ (with an A5 option for the latter), compared to the A5 size of the first edition. The larger 6 x 9 size allows for a 10% larger font (approximately 1 point) and more text per page, reducing page counts (e.g., Volume 1 is ~100 pages shorter) or accommodating additional content (e.g., Volume 2 includes the Glossary) with minimal page increase. This enhances readability and portability while maintaining functionality. The A5 Covenant of Christ is offered to align with first edition collections.

  • 15. What makes the Smyth-sewn binding special?

The Smyth-sewn binding used in the leather-bound volumes ensures exceptional durability, flexibility, and longevity. Pages are sewn into signatures, allowing the book to lie flat when open, resisting wear, and supporting frequent use—ideal for daily scripture study. This premium binding method also enhances the book’s aesthetic and repairability, making it a lasting, long life book to be enjoyed for years, even a lifetime.

  • 16: How will these new leather scriptures compare with the print-on-demand books that are now available and that will be available in the future?

There will be two major differences between the new second-edition, leather scriptures, and print-on-demand books: (1) quality, and (2) price. The differences between custom-made leather Bibles and print-on-demand (POD) books can be significant in terms of quality, pricing, materials, craftsmanship, longevity, and even aesthetic appeal.

    Materials and Craftsmanship

    Custom-Made Leather Bibles

    • Cover Material: Premium leathers, offering a luxurious feel and long-lasting durability.
    • Binding: Smyth-sewn, ensuring a durable binding that allows the book to lay flat when open.
    • Paper Quality: High opacity, wood-free and acid-free Bible paper, designed to minimize show-through and enhance readability.
    • Edge Treatment: Gold, with red or blue-under-gold gilding, adding an elegant and protective finish to page edges.

    Print-on-Demand Books

    • Cover Material: Basic, often paper-based covers, which are less durable and have a simpler appearance.
    • Binding: Glued binding, which is less robust and may not allow the book to lay flat, prone to cracking.
    • Paper Quality: Standard wood based, bond paper, typically thicker and less refined, with pages more prone to falling out over time.
    • Edge Treatment: No gilding, plain edges, lacking the decorative and protective finish of custom-made Bibles.

    • Customization: Minimal, usually limited to cover design choices, with little flexibility in other aspects like font or paper.
    • Longevity Value: Functional but generally not durable, with materials and binding less suited for long-term use and preservation.

    Bottom Line

    Custom-Made Leather Bibles

    • Recommendation: Choose a custom leather book if you prioritize exceptional craftsmanship, longevity, tactile beauty, and enhanced readability. These books are designed as a long-term investment, offering heirloom quality that can be cherished for generations.

    Print-on-Demand Books

    • Recommendation: Opt for a print-on-demand book if affordability and quick availability are your primary concerns. These books provide a cost-effective and accessible option, though they may lack the durability and customization of custom-made leather books.
