Greetings from the Restoration Scriptures Foundation!
We have an update to keep everyone informed about the progress of the leather-bound edition of the Restoration Edition Scriptures. The printing of this special order edition is just about completed. The line matching and the quality of the printing looks fantastic. Our printer reports that the “feel” of the coated paper is very soft, yet strong and easy to read, which is exactly what we wanted.
Currently, several teams are handling the folding of the printed sheets into signatures, followed by the next step of gathering and stitching the signatures into book blocks. After the book blocks finish assembly, they will be “nipped” three times, which is to say they will be compressed and glued with strong cloth backing. Then, they will be trimmed and prepared for the gilding process.
The current estimate is that all of the books should be trimmed and ready for gilding about 10 days from now. Following the sanding and buffing, application of the gilding, and quality control processes, they will be ready for binding, including head and tail bands, ribbons, liners and finally the covers.
Although we don’t have an exact ETA quite yet, the best estimates are that the books should be completed sometime in March. Shipping will take about 5-6 weeks to get them here, so we are looking at receiving our order in the USA in late April or early May, with distribution commencing immediately after we receive them.
